It comes around once a year...its exhausitng, exciting and down right nasty. Its the first stomach virus that our home has seen all year (afterall, we're only 14 days into the year) and it is REARING its ugly head.
I know most of you moms have been there, middle of the night crying that doesn't sound "quite" right, only to discover your toddler covered in vomit looking confused and scared. Your husband is probably standing right next to you as both of you try to figure out where to start (hint - there really IS no good place to start).
Yup, that's where we've been this week. So far, the stomach virus has hit three of our five kiddos (we only have five right now) and both adults - it took me DOWN on Tuesday. The amount of laundry I have done is INSANE and there was definitely a time last night that I was nervous we would run out of clean sheets and we DID run out of jammies.
There's a small part of me that wants the sick children to lick the two that aren't sick yet - I mean we might as well get this over with instead of dragging this out for DAYS! Then again, maybe just maybe, those two are immune to this particular virus....we'll probably find out in about 4 hours here when we're woken in the middle of the night yet again to find those two sick!
The best part was that we were told Star* might be leaving today after her court date so I had to get everything ready - all clothing washed, inventory documented, etc. just in case. Court was at 1:30 and the caseworker was supposed to call me afterward to let me know. It is now 8:43 p.m. and I am still waiting for my phone to ring. I guess she's NOT going home? That might have been nice to know since I had a FEW other things on my plate today. Probably for the best, I didn't want to send a puking child back to her parents but still very frustrating.
Well, I better go, apparently my husband is going downhill fast and we ALL know that it is FAR easier to care for a sick child than a sick spouse....wish me luck, I'm going in - if I'm not back in two days, call for back-up!
