Spring Break - Blessing or Curse?

I feel like my children are doomed to being in school for the rest of their lives and they haven't even started kindergarten yet. The PRESSURE to provide them with fun, aciton-packed time off from school is horrendous. I mean, how much of a break from pre-school do children really need? Is there something terribly difficult about playing for 5 hours a day that requires an enitre week of vacation right in the middle of March? Apparently the school board and I differ on this opionion since I have all six of my little angels home with me this week. All kidding aside, I think I was more excited for Spring Break than the kids. I remember the excitement of having nice weather and no school when I was younger and can't help but get excited for them as well.

So far this week we have rented a NEW release favorite movie, gone to the park, had a picnic, visited Daddy at work, and of course, played at home. We have the zoo planned for all day tomrorow and Friday Daddy will be home with us for an added treat. When you combine that with 7 therapy sessions, one bio-visit for the girls, one DHS caseworker visit, weekend bio-visit for Rex*, and a CASA visit, we've got a PRETTY full week underway.

I have been reading post after post on facebook about how people can't wait for school to start back up, etc. and I wonder if I just haven't arrived at that point of my parenting career yet - you know where I start lobbying my senator for 12 hour school days and no vacations? I am going to miss having all my kiddos home during the day and it is making me WISH that it was already summer, in the worst way.

My oldest starts kindergarten this year and my 4 year old is starting full day pre-school this fall as well....I feel like I'm never going to get those endless days of snuggling my children back and I'm wishing I had savored them even MORE than I did.

Oh well, for the mean time, I'm going to have to take these sweet little days as they come and hope that they never end ..........
